This kit is normally included with the purchase of a HOG. The air vent allows air in the HOG tank to escape as it fills with rainwater. With proper ventilation, as provided by the air vent, water will flow from the tank in a strong, smooth stream. Be sure to install the top portion of the vent above the lowest portion of your gutter overflow, otherwise water will spill out of the vent when the system is completely full.

If you have more than one HOG installed, connect your modular HOG system with threaded connectors. The connectors, which conduit the water between tanks, enable each tank in the system to fill simultaneously with an equal level of water.

The Inlet Outlet Kit is recommended for all HOG installations. The meshed inlet screen filters debris from the opening which allows rainwater to enter the tanks from the gutter or rain chain. It's also easy to clean! Control the flow of water to your garden by connecting a hose or drip-line irrigation system to the ball valve. The outlet ball valve acts as an on/off nozzle, allowing water to exit the HOG when open, and effectively sealing the HOG full of its supply of rainwater when shut.

Rainwater HOGs make it easy to fit volumes of rainwater storage in the tightest spaces. The HOG solution is novel: slim, easily handled tanks, designed for 20 years of useful life, fit into small spaces and screw together to provide rainwater storage in increments of 50 gallons.

Rainwater HOGs decentralize rainwater storage - their slim profile means water can be stored at each downspout and used locally. A single large cistern requires reticulated pipework linking all the downspouts to the tank and then back to the irrigated areas, often involving expensive installation and maintenance, not to mention garden replanting. The HOG system avoids such installation and maintenance costs with its smart, modular, slim design.

The best part is that the storage capacity can be structured to suit your budget and planned rainwater reuse, and expanded any time. Our largest installation to date is 114 HOGs for a total of 5,700 gallons using rainwater to flush toilets and irrigate gardens. Whether you install them horizontally, vertically or even on their long side as water-filled bench seating, Rainwater HOG modules are adaptable to almost any situation.

The modular screw together fittings combined with the robust ¼ inch (6mm) wall thickness of the HOG tank mean you can use the modules over and over, redeploying them to suit your changing needs.

Where can a Rainwater HOG be installed?
The Rainwater HOG can also be used in your housing structure, under your housing structure, or fixed to the sides of your house or along your fence. The Rainwater HOG can also be used under your deck or patio, and along your garden bed.

The Rainwater HOG can be positioned horizontally, for instance below a deck...or vertically, for instance along the side of a house.

The Rainwater HOG modular tank is rotomolded in virgin polyethylene which complies with AS2070. The HOG is molded of food grade plastic which complies with FDA and HPB regulatory standards for food contact. However, Australian and USA law state that rainwater should not be used for drinking water. The water from your roof can be contaminated with animal and vegetable matter which needs to be filtered from stored water before it is fit for consumption. The fact that off grid communities and rural areas do use rainwater for drinking purposes demonstrates that it is possible if the right collection and filtration measures are taken. Generally in suburban and urban areas it is not permitted to harvest rainwater for drinking or other potable use apart from toilet flush and laundry wash. The tank material itself is 100 % recyclable and has been designed to last you a lifetime.

Size
Each Rainwater HOG tank manufactured in Australia has a capacity of 180 liters, and the following dimensions: 500mm x 220mm x 1800mm. The HOG weighs approximately 18 kg when empty and 200 kg when full.

Each Rainwater HOG tank manufactured in the US has a capacity of 51 gallons and the following dimensions: 20" x 9.5" x 71". The HOG weighs approximately 40 lbs when empty and 440 lbs when full.
