It consists of a small heat exchanger and fan that sits on top of the CO2 generator.  The water cooling feature in the HydroGEN can remove up to 86% of the heat produced by burning propane, and the Ice Cap can take that efficiency up to about 98%.

The Ice Box is a safe and effective way to water-cool the air leaving your reflectors without adding a/c or more fans. . It uses an air-to-water heat exchanger to water cool the hot air your reflectors produce. Water-cooling is much more effective and efficient than air-cooling, and here's some science to prove it: Water has a thermal conductivity of 0.6 W/ (m*K) which is much higher than the thermal conductivity of air which is only 0.03 W/(m*K). Water also has a much higher specific heat capacity than air. What that means is water can absorb and remove from your garden 4 times the heat nearly 20 times faster than air! We aren't just talking about air cooling your reflectors, this goes for your air conditioning system too. Once heat is released in to your room the ability to efficiently remove that heat is lost. Air is only cooled with electricity whereas water can be cooled in dozens of ways with little or no energy. Furthermore, only 30% of the energy used in air conditioning is converted into usable cooling power, the rest is wasted. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that water-cooling will reduce your electric bill ... making your grow room a much happier place for you and your plants. In addition to cooling the heat from all those miniature suns we have in our grow rooms, if the water running through the Ice Box is cold enough, it can actually add supplemental air conditioning to your room, making them great for every operation from hut to warehouse.

Recommendations / Equipment Needed:

HydroGen Co2 Monitor

Very affordable, and simply all you need to regulate CO2. This CO2 controller can accurately monitor room CO2 levels and turn CO2 regulators or generators on and off. The monitor is preprogrammed to turn devices on at 1300 ppm and off at 1500 ppm with overshoot already calculated. Instead of a costly digital readout, the HydroGEN CO2 monitor uses indicator lights to show approximate CO2 levels. Hydro Innovations uses a high quality, self calibrated, maintenance free SenseAir brand Infrared CO2 detector. The monitor has a standard 120 volt piggyback plug and includes an EZ mount wall bracket.

Finally, a safe, very efficient way to water-cool your entire grow room! It consists of a high-quality heat-exchanger with molded plastic housing that is designed to install over a 6" or 8" air-cooled reflector duct flange. Air from your indoor garden is either pushed or pulled through the reflectors with an inline fan and then passed over the Ice Box heat exchanger. Cold water is circulated through the heat exchanger, cooling the air before it exits right back into the indoor garden area. The longer the tubing the higher the pump. But don’t use too high of a pump, due to the fact that it may not allow adequate time for the water to chill. If humidity is an issue in your room, you may want to put the reservoir outside the room.

The HydroGEN is the world's first and only water cooled CO2 generator. Water cooling is capable of removing 86% of the heat produced by burning propane and has loads of other options and features not available in any other CO2 generator on the market, including a completely adjustable flame (can produce anywhere between 15 and 45 cubic feet of CO2 per hr), an adjustable water flow valve, no pilot light (flame is activated by water flow), a tipover cut off, an overheat shut down sensor, and the list goes on. The unit can easily be used in a closed-loop system with a small chiller and reservoir, or you can connect directly to your home water supply and drain to storage for reuse in your garden. This optional valve (used in place of a pump) is designed to be installed in a pressurized water line and to be controlled by your co2 monitor. This is a high quality solid brass valve designed for years of service. The valve has 3/4” NPT outlets that can be used to attach the valve inline with your existing plumbing or you can use the supplied ½” hose barbs to make the connection. You will need either a pump or a valve but not both.
